Amazing Exchange from Paula C :-)

I must say that I was spoiled by Paula C. today! I opened her exchange box and was so surprised to find some wonderful treasures inside. Her blocks are gorgeous, and so nicely stitched:

In addition she included an amazing "strawberry" FOB~the design reminds me of a quilt! She included some of the BEST candies(by See's!), a pattern from one of my favorite designers: La-D-Da, and some very nice "Coffee" note cards. Paula, words just can't express my gratitude! Thank you so very much for the amazing exchange!

Stephanie's Squares to Sue Wild - Round 3

Sue sent me a lovely email today saying that she'd received the squares that I sent her - which is great as I was beginnign to worry, having sent them some weeks ago! Sue doesn't have a blog, so I said I would post a photo for her. I stitched her a Drawn Thread pattern called 'Spot of Autumn' which she says she likes. I'm keen to see how she will finish them! I didn't take a photo of the extras I sent along - I always forget to do that!
Stephanie

Hello, another newbie here....

I'm Chris from North Carolina (Chris B. in the Fair and Square profile list). A fellow Fair and Square participant (Ruth) is a dear friend and I got to watch and cheer as she worked on and finished her square for Round 3 when we were on a trip to Myrtle Beach. She told me about Fair and Square and how it worked, and I had to signup.

Thanks for letting me join and I can't wait for round 4 to start.

Ruth

Deadline Approaching!!!

Hello Fellow Fair and Square Exchangers!

The deadline for Round #3 is fast approaching!!! Squares should be postmarked no later than Nov. 2. If you are going to be late, ensure that your partner knows this information.
We'll have a two week downtime - as usual - in between our stitching deadline and next round for stragglers to catch up and for squares to be received.

If you want in on Round #4 please make sure your name is on the list...if it is not e-mail me or post to the board and I'll get you on there. Remember there is 8 weeks for Round #4 so that the holidays can be less traumatizing.

Have a great rest of the week and enjoy Halloween if you celebrate it!

Excitement

My excitement is building ! I love all of the projects you have picked for the squares! Great job to everyone! I am busy making all of the miniature ornies for my mini tree. The only reason I bought the mini tree was to inspire me to make my ornies :)

Here is a pic of my 5 finishes that I finished last week ...

Hope it is ok to post them here... note the gingerbread boy was just finished, and I think he is doing a happy dance to get away from my needle and dmc :) Laura

Cheryl's squares are traveling to Scotland!

Forgot to post, starting looking for the postman. Sure hope the strikes are over! haha
Donna

On its way to you, Nicky R

Hi Nicky! I sent out the Square to you this morning, will probably take a week to reach you. Hope you like my choice of pattern.

Vonna, I'll have to give the next one (#4) a miss. I need time to stitch up all those Xmas ornaments. But I'll be back for the #5 one.

Happy stitching everyone!

Posting Pictures

Dear Fair and Square Members,
Please remember that when you receive squares from your partner, that you:
1.) e-mail them (your partner) to let them know that you received and
2.) in a timely fashion (I'm not talking immediately but within a day or two), please post the pictures of your received squares to the Fair and Square Board

Please note: I'm no longer keeping track of who's sent and who's received in the side bar because that made people nervous....but I AM keeping track in my notebook at home. The only way I can do that is if we all communicate by writing to this board when we send, receive and posting a picture of our received squares.

If you don't post a picture, it may hurt your partners feelings! Think of it this way...they have worked hard for you...they've thought about what to stitch for you, they've stitched it, they've sent it away and they are waiting....and waiting....and they don't know if you've gotten them yet or not and then if they do know you've received them, and you don't show them off with our fellow Fair Squarer's then they think you don't like them. Please, please, please post the picture of your received squares to this blog. If you can't do it, then please let your partner know this and maybe they have a picture they can post for you. (for example look how Margaret G. and Annemarie worked together to get a picture up of Annemarie's lovely squares posted to this board - that's what I'm talking about - teamwork and communication! Well done ladies!).

For those interested, this is all listed in the rules for Fair and Square, which I know everyone was supposed to have read and understood, when they were signed up. I'm not trying to be hard-nosed about all of this but in the past week I've had no less than 3 e-mails concerning people and posting pictures, posting received/sent information and various other issues. It makes it so much easier for me and us all if you can post your information to the board. This is a VERY successful exchange and communication is key to any successful venture. And any successful exchange board out there asks its members to do the very same steps - so it's just not this board. You all are members to this blog because you can post to it. So let's get to posting and sharing our information.

My appreciation for everyone's attention to this matter!
~Vonna

STACI

Your squares are finished, packed and I'm going to the P.O. right now!! Start stalking your postal carrier! :)

Have a great weekend!

Squares Received from Margaret G

I received my squares from Margaret G on Tuesday. She stitched French Country IV Pumpkin for me from JBW Designs. It goes perfectly with the other two autumn themed squares I have received. She also sent along two charts from Lizzie*Kate (which I hope to stitch soon=)).

Thanks again, Margaret! I can't wait to turn these into a cube :)

Barbara L...look for your squares...

Barbara L, your squares are being mailed tomorrow. I do hope you like them.
Vonna, please sign me up for Round 4!! Thanks.

RULES MODIFICATION!!

Fellow Stitchers,
Since we've gotten a few rounds under our belts now, I see that we can modify a couple of the rules. Remember this was a "learning" experience and I didn't know exactly how this would take off...so here's what I changed...
The fabric size can be 6 x 6 I believe that will allot enough space for finishing into smalls, quilts, whatever...I noticed I was throwing away a lot of good linen, so if you want the squares can now become 6 x 6. Of course you can send any size larger than 6 x 6, but the minimum size shall be this.

And if the pattern you're wanting to stitch is larger than 50 x 50 ask your partner if that would be ok. If they aren't making something that is size dependent, then a slightly larger square is fine. I know I've been breaking the rules on this so I thought I'd just make it "legal" that we can go over 50 x 50 if its ok with the partner your assigned too.

Alrighty then...we've got ourselves a highly popular exchange blog going here! Keep up the good work ladies :)

Margaret's Squares

Blogger was being less than helpful in the last couple of days, making it impossible for Margaret to post a picture of the squares I stitched for her for Round 2. So now I'm posting them for her. Margaret wrote a little bit about the squares a couple of days ago.

Vonna

Could you sign me up for round 4 and thanks for keeping us all busy :)...

Mail from Maastricht

Are others having problems uploading images. I have been trying for days to show you the lovely squares Annemarie stitched for me in Round 2 but Blogger refuses. Yes you are reading correctly - Round 2. Annemarie and I mailed our squares on the same day hoping they would also arrive on the same day, but I guess the US mail thought these were just too pretty and considered keeping them. Finally last Thursday someone decided to be kind and Annemarie's package was in our mailbox.

The squares are absolutely perfect from one Dutch person to another. The front is a Delft Blue tile of a tulip - what could be more Dutch? On the back Annemarie stitched not only her name, city and the year but decorated the corners with a pretty design of her own. Along with the squares she sent me one of her now famous floss rings with Wildflowers 'Firecracker' floss (red/white/blue - the colors of the Dutch flag) and the cutest card with a hilarious poem by Hans Kuyper. DH got quite a chuckle out of that too.

Thank you so much Annemarie. I thoroughly enjoyed stiching this exchange with you and know I have made a new friend. Someday we will meet in person and I am looking forward to that day.

I will keep on trying to post a picture in the coming days.

Sensing Victorian Squares Send Off!!

Kathy Roberts is probably starting to sense some stitching winds coming her way as a midnight mail plane winds its way through clusters of silvery, moonlit clouds headed towards South Australia. Her Fair & Square pieces are headed for her!!
I had the good fortune of having Kathy as my partner this turn. She is such a genuine and kind-hearted stitching friend. I just wish we lived closer because I think we'd be stitching together alot!

Kathy likes delicate and Victorian stitchey things. She doesn't care for the garrish colors or designs, and she's a gentle spirit, herself, if there ever was one. I say these things because I want her next partner to take special care of her for me. Kathy is a true heart.

She does have one misconception, however. I'm no maven of stitching or sewing, as she says. It's simply that if after being a stitching woman for over 30 years, I haven't learned something, I should be drawn, quartered and stitched back together by amatuers!!!

I'm going to take some time off from F&S this next few months, and will be coming back in Jan. or Feb., if the Headmistresses will allow it. I want to take the opportunity to wish each one of you, my stitching very fair friends a happy holiday season and lots of fun stitching through it! I'll be checking in and commenting! Hugs, Deb in FL -- Lavender Rose

Round 3 squares for Vonna are in the Mail!!!

Hi Vonna!

I mailed your squares this morning so you should get them by the end of the week!

I'll be out of town 10/4-10/8. Me and my 10 best knitting friends are going to the Taos Wool Festival, with a quick stop at the Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs! Then I'll be yarn shopping, sight seeing, helping at my friend Kathy's booth, oh, and looking for Julia Roberts--LOL!!! Oh, and did I mention.....I will be 'kid-less'?!

I'm having a terrific time with this exchange, please sign me up for Round 4!

Thanks Vonna, you're the best :) Staci

Vicki, yooo hoo, Vicki

I have a question for you. I did a floss toss for your squares and I'm wondering what you think. There are two sets of greens and 3 sets of purple-ishes. The only difference between the two pics is I moved the greens so you could see them next to each of the purples. Is there a pairing of a purple set and a green set which you like best? Or do you not fancy purple and green much at all? It's fine if you don't because there's a whole rainbow out there for me to work with.
floss toss 1
floss toss 2

Thanks for the help! And, no more clues for you... just the floss toss. I just don't want you to open your pack and say "Hey that'd be really great if it were in _________ and __________."
