Sharon B's Earth Day

Sharon B's squares were mailed last Wed, 26th. Has anybody else been having trouble posting to this blog or is it just me? I enjoyed my first exchange and look forward to many more!

Clarifications...ALL MEMBERS PLEASE READ!

Few clarifications...we've had a recent rash of newcomers, and I've had LOTS of questions and some confusion so let's hash this out. Remember if you have a very popular name like Melissa, Julie, Heather, Laura, Lisa, etc....please use your last initial. Some of us don't have to worry about this like Vonna...I'm the only one I know so I don't have to worry about it, but some of you...need to worry about it because I get easily confused!

The holiday rounds are "extra" rounds that run at the same time or concurrently with the regularly scheduled rounds. The holiday rounds are the only rounds with "THEMES" you need to follow the "theme" specified to participate in the round. If it isn't a holiday that you celebrate, then don't participate!

Remember you can join in as many rounds as you like, you can even lay off a few rounds and come back at a later point in time...just communicate your wishes with me. If you want to be removed from the board...let me know and I'll remove you - no problem.

We're all doing really good! I'm impressed with everyone's attention to detail. If I fall behind and miss you...help me with the housekeeping by letting me know you've sent/rec'd and your name isn't marked off...I have two jobs and 4 kids...that speaks for itself. I'm human and have a life outside this board. SO help is always appreciated....but give me a couple of days before you let me know, as I usually followup...it just may take a couple of days.

Thanks for your help and attention to detail...it makes my life a lot easier!

Squares received from Terry!

I am sooo late in posting that I received my squares. My son has the flu & we are trying to get out of town tomorrow to visit Minnesota...so, it's been crazy...but, I'm pretty well packed & he's finally given up & napping WELL!

Here are the beautiful squares I received as well as the goodies...THANKS to Terry!

I will be sending my TODAY! :) Be on the lookout for them sometime next week...

Thank You Ruth B.!

I received my Earth Day Squares from Ruth B. They are so beautiful. I just love them. She also sent a Sampler Thread, a Vicki Clayton silk and some flower buttons.

Ruth says that the pattern is an adjusted version of one from Donna Kooler's 555 Timeless Cross-Stitch patterns. This is so much fun!

Thanks again,

For Karen D.

Just wanted to let you know, Karen, your Earth Day package is on it's way. To everyone else, I wanted to post it so that Karen wouldn't have to post a photo of this incomplete swap. Karen was MOST understanding when life "took a turn" for me and I wasn't able to properly finish. Many, many, many thanks to her for her kindness and understanding. And also to Mercy--for the same. I certainly do not want to receive any squares as I was not able to fulfill the obligations. Vonna, please remove me from the board. Thanks, Anna E.

Received Earth Day Squares from Margaret

I received wonderful squares stitched by Margaret of New Zealand for the Earth Day exchange. Margaret stitched the NZ Pukeko bird on one square and then personalized the second square and stitched a cute earth globe in the center...and she included great goodies as well. I love everything! Margaret, thank you for a great exchange!
Below are pics of the two squares and all the goodies;

Received Earth Day Squares from Cathy B.

Thank you Cathy! The squares are gorgeous! I love that cute little owl in the tree, how sweet!

The Sweetheart Tree pattern is also very nice as I do love their designs and I want to try my hand at a biscornu soon and think this pattern will be a good one for it. Thanks for the mints, the darling pins, and the springtime colors of wdw variation threads. This is a very special treat and I appreciate all of the thoughtfulness that you put into it.

Happy Earth Day Ruth!

Your Earth Day squares went to the post office today. I should have done this last week but time got away from me.

I hope you like them!

Testing

I kept getting error messages yesterday when trying to post to this blog, so I thought I would try again!

Suzanne St.

Oh my gosh!

I am so sorry - I received my squares from Staci at the beginning of the week! I was going to update my own sadly out-of-date blog when I realized I hadn't posted here. Sorry, Staci.

Anyway, I received GORGEOUS Earth Day squares. The colors are so beautiful, and the design is just too cute! And I love the little bunny repeated on the name square.

Here's a closer pic of the front square:

Thank you, Staci! I just love what you stitched for me. :)

Grinning from ear to ear....

Well, today was a really nice mail day, I got my earth day package from Joan and it made me smiling...my little one asked me:
Mom what happened? You are looking so happy ...and I am ;-)...
Joan stiitched wonderful squares and added a perfectly matching piece of fabric,
I have to finish it as a pillow because one have to seee a lot of the fabric, it´s soooo perfect;-))
And she spoiled me with lots of gifts, many of them are self-made, you can see them on the second pic, there was a really nice painted and wooden needlecase done by Jill, I like this really much;-)).....a nice stitching bag, a beaded scissor fob and a little sewed hen...the third pic shows my other goodies: A LHN chart from my wishlist, notecards, a Gingher scissor, I am just starting collecting scissors ;-)...charms and beading needles(also on my wishlist), a piece of green linen, a bunch of DMC floss ( I always appreciate this because we have to pay so much per skein in Europe*sigh*) and a tin with mints....

Joan, you couldn´t have done it better, I am sooo happy with everything and I really hope I can give you back some of my feelings with your package which will go out next week...
Thx so much and a big hug,

Gaby

New stitcher...

Hello! :)
I've just joined "fair and square". I'm glad I was accepted and I hope I can be able to correspond.
I'm 36 and learn to stitch from my mother when I was about 8 years old (I keep the first little work I've done as a treasure!). Stiching and playing with colors is an activity that I find very relaxing and amusing. I stitch in linen and my favourite thread is DMC.
Have to go! But I will be around...
Good Bye!!
Sandra G.

New Stitcher Intro

Hi all - I've been stitching for about 20 years on and off. I've been stitching a lot in the last 2+ years, in part because I finally have a home to call my own. No more packing and unpacking all the supplies. I have a lovely couch to leave everything out on now :-).

I'm looking forward to participating in the exchanges. I found the blog though Shelly P who's my partner for another exchange. The concept of the squares is great! Now I just have to think of all the nifty ways I might use them.

I will email an alternative address to Vonna that you can use also. Your squares should be arriving soon. Enjoy your week,

Earth Day Exchange

I sent off my Earth Day squares to Gaby today.

I hope that they will arrive safely and quickly.

Squares received!

I received an e-mail from Willeke on Mar 6 to let me know that she had received my squares. Unfortunately she has been really busy and unable to post them (either here or on her own blog) so I am going to post a picture of them for her.

New here

Hi,

I have been browsing all the great pictures on this blog for quite a while and couldn't resist any longer - so I joined. I have been stitching for 12+ years and love so many designers that it's impossible to name them all. I only stitch on linen and love to use all different kinds of threads, silks, overdyed threads and also good old DMC.

I'm hooked on exchanges and I'm looking forward to stitching my first square.

Happy stitching,
Brigitte

Squares from Michele

My squares from Michele arrived Saturday. I love the design she chose to stitch for me, and the nice dark fabric really makes it pop. I love winter, so these squares will be finished into some kind of hanging to get me through the summer months until it's nice and cold again.

Thanks again Michele!!!!

New Here, Just saying Hi

Hi Everything,

I have heard wonderful things about this exchange and decided to join in. I am a 33 year SAHM to 2 wonderful little ones. My son is 3 and my daughter is 1. I have been stitching for 20 years and find it to be a great stress relief after a day of running around after the kids. I also help people decorate their homes, which is also great fun.

I love stitching on evenweave/linen. My favorite threads are WDW, CC, GAST, SSS, and Anchor. Some of my favorite designers are Mosey N Me, SanMan Originals, Little House Needlework, Bent Creek, Lizzie Kate, My Mark Designs and many more.

Have to run. Need to get supper for the little ones.

Talk to you all soon.
April :)

Sign Me Up

Vonna sign me up for the next rounds what is it now 7, 8 and 9. Not sure yet on the 4th of July one. Hold off on that one for now while I mull that one over some more :)

Thanks for all you do!

Hi there from DownUnder!

I've just taken courage in both hands and decided to join this group! Sounds like a lot of fun! I'm a wife and a mum of 2 smallish kids (my eldest just started school!) This year I've decided to start studying again... Master of Counselling and Graduate Diploma of Divinity. Yes, I know I'm crazy! I'm usually flat out doing lots of different crafts but for some reason I've got none out this year so far!!!! Since I need the occasional excuse to get my head out of the books I thought I'd join this group! By day I'm a mum, by night a student!!!! My favourite colour is purple (hence my picket fence and windows are this!) but my house is very bright... red kitchen, purple lounge and bedroom, daughter's room is lime and hot pink, son's room is lime and bright blue, family room is mango... getting some impressions now?!?! I love stitching bright, funky things but occasionally stitch something really pretty (whoever stitched "Cottage Garden" I saw in the blog was right on the money - beautiful!) or boyish! I found this blog via MyMark Designs so that may tell you something!!! I really am very out of fashion at the moment because at least here in Oz neutrals and browns are all the go!!! I think brown belongs in the ground, under the grass!!! I'm really looking forward to getting to know some of you and hopefully I will survive the first round I join (even if I have to stay up all night!!!!!) LoL, Mairi

Round 5 To Hitomi

Here are the pictures that I stitched for Hitomi. Not sure if they ever arrived as she has not let us know. I am sure they didn't get sent back to me and they were mailed on February 7th. I didn't take a picture of all the extras I included in the package just the squares. Here they are.

ROUND #6 PARTNERS

Thanks everyone...Vonna

Rowyn's package included a stitching band with a beautiful green and gold border, a Jill Oxton Cross Stitch and Beading magazine, the most gorgeous piece of hand dyed fabric from Kiwi Illusions called "Ocean Blue" a postcard of Wellington and a notecard with a native bird on the cover. The squares are stunning and the entire package was a delight to open. Thank you Rowyn. I have enjoyed getting to know you and hope we shall stitch together again one day.

Hello everyone!

I've just joined Fair and Square (thank you, Vonna). The squares you all show on this blog are so lovely and I'm really looking forward to stiching with you!

I'm German, married with three children and have been stitching for 11 years now. I stitch nearly every day and always have several projects on the go. On Saturday, I'm going to a big craft fair and I'm sure I'll find a few more projects there ;-)

Happy stitching,

I'm 32, been married 13 years this summer. I've been cross-stitching forever it seems like! I love huge projects: Angel of Cross Stitch, Marbek Nativity, Mothers Tree--stuff like that. But I love the smaller stuff when I need a break or a quick stitch! :)

I have two boys, 10 and 8! Where has the time gone? My older one starts middle school next year!

Yikes!

Thanks for letting me join up!

SaraNC

Annemiek's Squares Received

Dear Everyone

Beautiul squares received from Annemiek received on Friday. I will post pictures tomorrow. Annamiek yours should be arriving soon - I emailed you but have not heard back yet???? My mum has been ill so getting to the post was delayed. I have emailed Vonna and she is aware that they are being sent. Thanks you so much for the lovely A Mon Ami Pierre design and the gorgeous thread and pattern. I will post some nice pictures in the morning.

Sharon B -*- Australia

Received from Rowyn

I received a lovely package from Rowyn in the mail the other day. Unfortunately, my camera is in for repair so my photo post is of the squares only. Rowyn has kindly posted the photo of the squares on her blog for me to copy. This is Papillions Tiny Little Quaker using DMC 99. Thanks girl - I love it.

She also gifted me with some bookmark banding, the most beautiful hand dyed fabric, a Jill Oxton Cross Stitch and Beading magazine, a post card of Wellington and the sweetest notecard with native birds on it. It has been a real pleasure partnering with Rowyn.

Received from Teresa S.

Look what I received from Teresa -- my round 5 squares, Sampler Threads, a kitchen towel and the cutest little canvas bag. I love the squares you stitched, love the design and the colors you used. Thank you very much.

And... it's taken me a couple more days to get your squares finished. Was hoping to have them in the mail today, but not quite. I have about an hour's left of stitching and they will be done. I'll post on Monday when they have been mailed.

Squares received...

I received a lovely exchange from Tash yesterday. She stitched me a delightful design from BOAF. I am simply thrilled with it! Then she spoiled me with lovely hand dyed threads, hand dyed fabbie (that was the left over from the squares she stitched), CHS chart and yummy chocolate! Thanks so much Tash I love it all!!

Received my squares from Sonda!!!

Look at these beautiful squares!! Sonda, you are a talented stitcher. The picture doesn't do it service. The beading is so pretty. I love my squares and all of the wonderful goodies Sonda sent. (The Altoids tin is empty.) Thank you so much Sonda.

Recieved from Jen R

Sorry my post is a little late. I received my wonderful squares from Jen R right before I left for vacation and I wasn't able to post to the board. So, a little late, but here is the Christmassy Bent Creek square she sent me. So far, I have 3 F&S Christmas squares to finish into ornaments and I love them all!!! Jen also sent 2 red and green DMC skeins and a great Christmas fabric. I'm going to have a hard time deciding what I want to use it for first! Thanks so much for a great exchange, Jen!!!

Thank you Melissa!!!

I received these beautiful squares from Melissa in CA yesterday! I just love them!! Thank you so much Melissa. The design is just perfect - I'm trying to decide how to finish the squares. I've been toying with the idea of making wooden flossy holders and I think this would be a great design for the center (front and back). The design is "Tiny Little Quaker" by Papillon Creations; stitched with NN Painted Desert. I love over-dyed fibers (my weakness) :)

Forgot to mentioned the goodies Melissa sent along. She included a skein of NN Painted Desert and one of the new Just Nan patterns - Florentine Floral. I really love it.

Squares received from Paula C.

These beautifull squares and goodies from Paula C. arrived yesterday. I'm very happy with them and because they arrived on my birthday it really felt like an extra birthdaygift! Thank you very much Paula, you made my first fair and square exchange a great one....
