Hey Jennifer, here's your floss toss. Can you guess what it's going to be? lol Before laying down money you should know.......
.... I kind of lied. You see there are some colors in that pile that aren't actually going in your piece. When I was taking this picture at like 11pm (aka, I ought to be in bed by then) my sleep-deprived brain thought that the colors might lead you to guess the subject so I decided red herrings were necessary. In the light of day I know I was nuts.
My squares are on their way to C in DC with apologies for their late delivery. I was in Annapolis last week and fully intended to mail them from there, but then left home without them!! But upon my return on Monday, I took care of that. And found, to my delight, my squares from Cheryl. Without further ado.....Aury Patriotic Heart - my first one! Thank you so much Cheryl. So sorry we didn't get a chance to meet for ice cream and exchange in person.
Toni, I'm glad my squares made it to you. I'm sorry for being so slow!!! But at least this time I remembered to take a pic before they left --
They are a modified Lizzie Kate done in DMC and Waterlilies. And, just to tell you how much I like Toni (who I've known for, what, Toni, more than a decade now?--where does the time go????), those blooms all have lumpy French knots for their centers.... really lumpy because French knots and I are not friends.
Happy summer, Toni! It was a pleasure and an honor to stitch for you.
My squares came from Jennifer F. Thanks so much Jenn, I just love the metallics. Ladies, I had put this on the blog a while ago and was just checking out the new round when I saw that it was still in 'draft' and hadn't been published. I'm such a weenie!! Lol. Anywho Jenns squares came a while back...
Here's my squares from Rebecca C (no blog). This was her first F&S Exchange, and she did a GREAT job with them! Rebecca was also kind enough to include the chart since it's a Now & Then from Lizzie Kate and has the older "Land that I Love" included.
I received my squares from Kathy L the other day. Love them! Not only are they patriotic, but they are stitchy related. What's better than that? You can find this lovely free pattern at Notforgotten Farms.
Thank you Kathy!
And I just want to say, I'm so glad this exchange is running again .... it's my most favoritest :o)
PATRIOTIC EXCHANGE PARTICIPANTS:
In my initial mailing about this exchange, I stated that the round would run from June 16 thru July 11. This is only 4 weeks. Rounds are to run 6 weeks, according to the rules. Because there was a holiday and alot of people are vacationing, I would propose that the exchange date be changed to June 16 thru July 25. I apologize for this and any inconveniences it may have caused.
OUR NEXT EXCHANGE
The next round will run roughly August 11 through September 19, with sign-up 2 weeks prior to that. I am looking for suggestions on what kind of round you would like to have. A specific designer round, a themed round or just a "pot-luck" round. I am open to any suggestions you may have.
Any questions about any of this, please send me an e-mail, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Look at the lovely squares I received from Toni ---
I do so love a flag :)
Thanks, Toni! You've been the best part of my week!!!!!!
Wanna see yours?
What? You can't make it out? lol Silly stitcher! That's your floss toss-- though I'm not sure if that Belle Soie will get used or not-- I have been using BS' "Icing" but I'm not certain if I still have need of "Pecan Pie's" shade of dark gold. And, I can report since I'm actually farther on than the floss toss, that I must like you, Toni, because... wait for it..... I did French knots! Did I hear a *gasp*? There should have been a gasp because Lord knows I hate French knots.
WOW! Has it really been that long since we exchanged on this blog? Sometimes I just don't know where the time goes. This exchange blog has been very neglected and I apologize for that.
Funny thing...I was just contemplating starting up the Fair and Square again and lo and behold, I received several messages asking me to please consider doing this. For quite sometime there were so many exchange blogs and now it seems like there are hardly any. Anyway, I am ready to get this going again. Are you?
How about a Patriotic Square Exchange? I will take sign-ups until Saturday, June 14. Partner information will be sent out by Monday, June 16
with a mail date of July 14.
If you have forgotten the rules, please refresh by reading them on the
right side of the blog. Please e-mail me to sign-up,
PLEASE NOTE: If you are interested in participating in this round, please send me an e-mail and include your current mailing address. It has been so long, I want to make sure I have up to date address.
Hello? Is this thing on? Is anyone reading this blog, and more importantly, is anyone interested in participating in the exchange again? I'd love to see this group reactivated. I've met some incredibly lovely stitchers through this exchange.
I wanted to share a no sew cube I made with squares received in 2012 from Pokua. (You can see the front and back in that post)
This cube will be a lovely companion to another exchange I finished in the same manner, this one from Jeanie.
I received my squares from Kathy A and I love them!
When I saw this stitched for someone else here I thought -- wouldn't it be nice if my partner stitched this one for me. And she did! How cool is that? Kathy, you must be a mind reader. Thank you. I know exactly how I'm going to finish these and as soon as I get 'er done, I'll post another pic.
I tried to email you but the mailer-daemon sent it back as undeliverable so ......
valentine squares went out today. I hope you like them. Valentine's
Day isn't really one of my favorite holidays so I had to do some
searching to find a nice pattern. I think the one I found is a classic.
This exchange blog has been very neglected. I apologize if I have disappointed any of you. I just can't believe where the time goes! After starting a new job in August, here it is, the end of the year. And, yes, it seems like it went that fast.
Anyway, I am ready to get this going again. Are you?
How about a Valentine Square Exchange? I will take sign-ups until this Friday, January 4. Partner information will be sent out by Sunday, 1/6 with a mail date of February 4. Hopefully everyone will have their squares in time for Valentine's Day.
You all know the rules, if not, please refresh by reading them on the right side of the blog. Please e-mail me to sign-up, email@example.com.
I received my lovely Halloween squares from Pam on Tuesday. She used lambswool linen and Belle Soie and HDF silks (one day I'll have silks) and took parts from different designs to create this one.
I don't know if you can see, but the pumpkins, bats and owl are stitched over one, they are so cute IRL!
Thank you so much for a lovely exchange Pam, it's beautiful!
