I'm Delighted with my Squares!

I had a mystery package drop through my door yesterday, and boy was I ever delighted with its contents! Look at these simply stunning squares that Annemarie stitched for me:

They are a design by Christiane Dahlbeck and Annemarie couldn’t have chosen better – I absolutely LOVE them – I can’t wait to finish them into a special…well, I haven’t quite decided what yet, but definitely something special! She also included a bag of yummy loose tea and a sweet postcard – I’m going to have to ask her about the fairytale of the root children as that’s not one I’m familiar with. Thanks again Annemarie, I truly am delighted!

Hugs
Stephanie

From Stephanie to Annemarie - Round 4

Hi all! Hope everyone has had a very happy holiday season and wishing you all the best for 2008! I am posting a photo of the squares that I sent to Annemarie before Christmas as I think she's having trouble with her camera, so here they are:

They are better photos on her blog - and also of a few of the goodies I included. Vonna, if I'm not too late, can you please sign me up for Round 5?

Happy stitching!

My Squares for Annemarie

I stitched these squares for Annemarie and I know she received them a couple of weeks ago. Annemarie is away from her computer for a bit, so I figured I would share them - didn't want anyone to think I didn't send my squares off. I chose this design because, knowing Annemarie very well, she has more coffee than blood in her veins :-)

Margaret's Squares

Blogger was being less than helpful in the last couple of days, making it impossible for Margaret to post a picture of the squares I stitched for her for Round 2. So now I'm posting them for her. Margaret wrote a little bit about the squares a couple of days ago.

Mail from Maastricht

Are others having problems uploading images. I have been trying for days to show you the lovely squares Annemarie stitched for me in Round 2 but Blogger refuses. Yes you are reading correctly - Round 2. Annemarie and I mailed our squares on the same day hoping they would also arrive on the same day, but I guess the US mail thought these were just too pretty and considered keeping them. Finally last Thursday someone decided to be kind and Annemarie's package was in our mailbox.

The squares are absolutely perfect from one Dutch person to another. The front is a Delft Blue tile of a tulip - what could be more Dutch? On the back Annemarie stitched not only her name, city and the year but decorated the corners with a pretty design of her own. Along with the squares she sent me one of her now famous floss rings with Wildflowers 'Firecracker' floss (red/white/blue - the colors of the Dutch flag) and the cutest card with a hilarious poem by Hans Kuyper. DH got quite a chuckle out of that too.

Thank you so much Annemarie. I thoroughly enjoyed stiching this exchange with you and know I have made a new friend. Someday we will meet in person and I am looking forward to that day.

I will keep on trying to post a picture in the coming days.

Margaret's squares for moi

I'm a little late in posting these pics (I've been lazy and busy, a dreadful combination), but here are the squares that Margaret G stitched for me!

Aren't they beautiful? Margaret chose this design because I translate romantic novels and she thought this 'Ladye of the Castle' would be just right for me. You're right Margaret, I love it! If you hadn't stitched these squares for me, I would have stitched the design myself :o)

Here it comes Annemarie!!!

It is 10:00 a.m. PT on Friday September 7 and I just got home from the Post Office. I'm on time for mailing Round 2!!!!

Your Fair Squares are on their way Annemarie. I had so much fun stitching for you. Of course now I hope that the theme will be evident when you see the squares but if not I'll clarify.

Vonna, thanks for signing me up for the third round. I'm looking forward to the challenge of choosing something to match my next partner.

Amy's fair squares have arrived!

And here they are, for you all to see. Hasn't Amy done a wonderful job? She stitched a Prairie Schooler alphabet (my favourite designer in my favourite colours with my favourite image, i.e. letters on linen), and also added some wonderful Prairie Schooler charts. Thank you, Amy. You're a dear. Your squares will be flying USA-wards tomorrow!

Mail on the way to Annemarie!

I hope you like your square Annemarie! Please let me know when it arrives!

Please sign me up for Round #2!

Thanks,
Amy

Quilt tutorial

Hello ladies,

I hope the American ladies among us are all enjoying a fabulous Memorial Day.

I was just over at Romy's, and saw that she put up a mini-tutorial for the way she finishes her friendship quilt. This is the way I'm going to finish it, too. I thought you might like to go and see...

Me likey...

Hey girls,

I'm so glad that you're already enjoying yourselves, although we haven't even officially started yet. I read all your posts and thought it was time to tell you something about my plans with your squares, my likes and my (very few) dislikes. I intend to make a quilt out of the squares, but perhaps I might use one or two for something a bit smaller. I really don't want to stick to a particular theme. I'm sure I will like anything you choose to stitch for me. Of course, there are a couple of things I'm not too fond off, like Disney-cutesy, or those really old-fashioned florals. I love samplers, alphabets, quakers. Favourite designers? A pretty eclectic bunch, actually: Blackbird Designs, La-D-Da, the Goode Huswife, Carriage House Samplings, Jeremiah Junction, Bent Creek, Monsterbubbles, Little House Needleworks, The Sampler Girl... Oh, what's the use? I like everything. As long as you enjoy stitching it, I'll enjoy receiving it!
