Fair & Square finishes

I bought myself a new sewing machine just a few weeks ago and finally started turning my received Fair& Square pieces into finished objects. I've decided to finish them all into little pin cushions and display them together with my ostrich egg in a big basket. This basket is centered on my living room coffee table. It makes me smile every time when I pass by that basket and remember all those great exchanges I had (and still have) in this group.
Here are pictures of each single pillow (only the front with the main square, the squares with the names are on the back of each pillow, you can see those on my blog)
from Gillie - this was my very first exchange

from Kathy in 2009 - I had my bicycle stolen that summer, so Kathy decided to stitch a bicycle for me. This exchange was very special too me.

Round 11 Squares from Suzanne

The Round 11 Squares from Suzanne arrived beginning of this week. She stitched a design from the Prairie Birds leaflet from Prairie Schooler for me. I love these two squares. The colors are so perfect. They are absolutely beautiful.
Thank you Suzanne!

Squares From Daniela

The Fair & Square Round 11 squares from my partner Daniela. She has stitched the most wonderful designs from a German sampler. I quote from Daniela's blog,

"The designs on both squares are from a northern German reproduction sampler dated from 1820. They are done in classic Biedermeier style, as many samplers are, that are found from that time in Germany and Austria."
Thank you Daniela, I really love the squares and I really look forward to doing a beautiful finish with them.

Round #10 Received

The other day I received two really beautiful squares from Jennifer for Fair & Square Round #10. I love them, because they are really colourful and use plenty of specialty stitches. I think I will finish these as a pinkeep, because a few months ago, I found this awesome ribbon, but didn't know what it could be used for as it was really quite bright. It will match these squares perfectly.

Round #9 squares from Margit have arrived

Today, the most beautiful squares arrived from Margit in Germany. We had both agreed that we would stitch some LHN or CCN designs for each other. Margit has chosen a design from LHN called 'Ladybug Ladybug'. I have been admiring this design for some time, so I am very lucky she stitched it for me. I am not sure what I plan to do with these squares yet, but it will have to be something special. Thank you Margit for these beautifully stitched squares.

Round 8 Squares from Dani

Well, I am pleased to say that I received my two beautiful squares from Dani for Fair and Square Round #8. She has stitched a freebie from Plum Pudding Designs. Thank you Dani, I love them and the design is just the style I like. I am not sure what I may make from them, but at the moment I am leaning towards a pinkeep.

PS. Luckily you put them both in a plastic bag, the postman left them on top of the mail box in the rain and the envelope was soaked. Don't know why, there was plenty of room for it in the mail box.

Thank you Clare!

Late yesterday afternoon, the postman made a delivery of a parcel and look what I found inside. Clare stitched the most wonderful squares for me for Fair & Square Round #7. I just love the colour and the tiny little gold beads. I am going to finish these squares off as a little pillow.

Clare also sent me some fantastic gifts. Some book plates, so I can label all my cross-stitch books and they should never go missing again. Some lovely little mother-of-pearl buttons. Needles, of which you can never have too many. A Little House Needlework chart 'Schoolgirl Lessons', which was on my wish list and the beautiful Belle Soie thread to stitch it.

Thank you very much Clare for your fantastic exchange, I absolutely love it all. I look forward to maybe stitching with you again in future rounds.

Squares Received

Just a quick note to say that I received my squares from Kathy R early last week, but as I have not been well, I have not been able to post until now. Kathy sent me some beautiful squares in a nature theme, just like I requested and sent some other lovely goodies. Thank you Kathy for your generosity.

Suzanne S. and Kathy R.

This is so exciting. Our packages have crossed in the mail. Suzanne e mailed me to say she received her package on Wednesday and I received mine today. I think it is so cool that they both were sent and received in the same week.
In the note that Suzanne sent to me she stated that she read my notes that said I enjoyed seasons. Sooooo, seeing that it is going into Autumn in Australia, Suzanne made a an Autumn based picture. How wonderfully thoughtful. Thank you so very much.
Also Suzanne sent me some yummy chocolate that will soon be in my tummy and floss. Floss is not 4 or 5 for one dollar her. It is more like between, $1.25 to $.150 a skein. This is very very appreciated.

So for the next few weeks until we are assigned our next partners, I will be working on Angel of the Sea with the http://lavenderangels.blogspot.com/ SAL.
Here are the lovely pictures.
