A few things...

Members,

First I'd like to thank those of you, that actually take the time to follow this blog and read the posts, follow the rules and follow through with all of your exchanges. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Secondly, I'd like to say, that I have received a couple of e-mails today, a few last week, and all of them were sort of directed at me because people didn't receive their squares. I'm sorry, I try my best to get people to follow through, but I can only do what I can do. I have a life, I have a family, I have two jobs on the weekends and I am supposedly doing this board for "fun" - I feel that my rules are well stated, easy to understand, I'm usually 95% accessible. I spend A LOT of time doing maintanence on this board. I try to make it run well. But in the end, I'm not sitting in your living room holding your hand telling you to make sure and stitch your squares and mail them on time.

I appreciate those of you that have told me they'd help me in anyway...but I don't think that it would work because you've all heard the saying "too many cooks in the kitchen" ? well I think that would apply here. And I've seen similar things fall apart on other boards when too many people had different ideas....so...

I've had to remove 4 people today. Because of NOT mailing their exchanges, said they would, but they didn't and dispite my e-mails, despite my pleas, despite my being understanding, they still would like to just negate it. So, fine...

Here is my last entreaty to all members - PLEASE we have a good thing going here, I'm close to just pushing the delete button on this blog....I don't do heavy screening because I don't know how to do that fairly. I admit anyone that sends me an e-mail and asks to join. IF you are going to join this board, join a round..whatever...PLEASE follow the guidelines...that's all I'm asking. I've had people complain that they are getting to many goodies...they can't spend that much on return goodies - it's in the rules not to send goodies and if you do make them homemade ones or $5.00 or less. I've had people complain to me about mail being slow...sorry I'm not a postman. I've had people complain to me about postage rates - no control over that one either. But over all people complain that they don't receive their squares, and I try to give every chance to the member to get them re-stitched (or stitched for that matter) and sent. Then I try to solicit someone to be a substitute stitcher and stitch a set. I don't think besides a couple that I'm working on....anyone has gone squareless...if you have please let me know...heaven knows I've asked enough times.

Ok, rant over...please help me...this whole mess makes me feel like I'm being the bad guy here and I'm not a bad guy....

I know exactly how you feel, and if someone doesnt send a square I think it is fair that they be deleted, unless it is an emergency circumstance. In your corner,

I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this. No, you're not being a bad guy...unfortunately some people, when they're in the wrong, try to displace the blame to others.

If people don't send their squares and are non-responsive, it is completely fair to delete them from the membership list. If they don't like it...wah, that's life. They didn't follow through with what they were supposed to do, so they have zero room to complain.

Just wanted to say that you are very clear and blunt about your expectations from members. I love that. I am on several other swaps/exchanges and I feel things fall through because everything is up in the air.
Your approach is perfect. Someone has to do this job.

Vonna, I'm sorry that you are getting flack from others about certain aspects of the board. If you ever need help with substitute stitching, let me know. I'm more than happy to help.

Vonna, I'm so sorry that you are having problems. I am hosting my first (very small) exchange, and it is so much work, I am in awe at how much work you put into this. It truly is a labor of love and is so appreciated.

I do my best to follow all of your rules, but I have to admit that I'd forgotten about the $5.00 limit on sending extras. I haven't done that in the past, but I will from now on. I know the squares are the stars of the show, and that is definitely how I feel when I receive a set!

As for the bad apples, unfortunately they are unavoidable. You are certainly within your rights to delete them, and I for one am grateful to you for keeping our exchanges safe.

If you ever need a replacement stitcher, I would be happy to serve in that capacity.

Vonna, I think you're doing a great job with organising this exchange. The rules are clearly spelt out as are the consequences for not following them. That's the main reason why I chose to join this exchange, it's so well run!

Vonna, I just wanted you to know that I love visiting this blog and am so looking forward to my first exchange here in round 8. I put off starting because I knew I would be swamped with other things until then and didn't want to disappoint anyone. I'm sorry that even here there are some who are not honoring their commitment, but I guess that happens everywhere. You certainly can't be blamed for increased postal rates or slow mail! From what I have seen you are doing a wonderful job organizing and coordinating all of this. It is always such fun to see the great squares that everyone stitches. I hope you won't feel the need to close down the group. Please let me know if you ever need anyone to help with replacement squares. I would be happy to help. And thank you again!

What I would give for you to sit with me, in my living room, while I stitch! :)
You know that you can email me anytime to stitch up a replacement.
Shame on those that do not follow through~they are the "bad guy" NOT you my friend!
Thank you a million times over for all that you do Vonna! You make this a fantastic board.
