Squares from Marg to Stephanie - Round 5

Wow. I just got treated to an amazing exchange from Marg down in Australia! First, she stitched me this really great design (I love spring - probably because I was born in spring - it makes you a bit biased!) by Calico Crossroads using a really lovely overdyed thread.

And, just check out all the wonderful goodies she sent me! A great chart by Cat's Whiskers, some Australian thread, a handmade (by Marg no less!) beaded bookmark, and a nifty tool for counting stitches when moving around linen - which will come in so so handy as my DH has a bad habit of asking me questions when I am trying to count! :)

Morning from icy Minnesota! Your box will go out today--hope you like them. This was definately a comedy of errors project. It's a free chart from the Aurel blog, which has taught me to proofread freebie charts before stitching them! The chart has a lot of mistakes and I added many of my own so her wouldn't feel bad about being there. Of course when I packed everything in the box, I didn't have tape and couldn't find the address! The light dusting of snow has quickly turned into many inches and now ice. I don't "do" ice, so will send the hubby to the postoffice one we're plowed out.

This is so exciting. Our packages have crossed in the mail. Suzanne e mailed me to say she received her package on Wednesday and I received mine today. I think it is so cool that they both were sent and received in the same week.
In the note that Suzanne sent to me she stated that she read my notes that said I enjoyed seasons. Sooooo, seeing that it is going into Autumn in Australia, Suzanne made a an Autumn based picture. How wonderfully thoughtful. Thank you so very much.
Also Suzanne sent me some yummy chocolate that will soon be in my tummy and floss. Floss is not 4 or 5 for one dollar her. It is more like between, $1.25 to $.150 a skein. This is very very appreciated.

I picked up my package from the post office today, and received not only two gorgeous squares, but a whole pile of goodies to go with it: some flosses, including the most delicious WDW Indian Summer, some fabric that will be perfect for everything, a lovely little chart, needles which I am always running out of, a sharpie hilighter, and even a little packet of altoids (which I must keep hidden from my dad!) I snapped up some photos this morning and thought I'd post this quick before I head out to work. A wonderful package arrived yesterday from Lisa - in it were the squares she stitched for me, a BBD pattern, some Moda BBD fabric, some needles and a wonderful hand made card. The squares are wonderful - I believe the design is from With My Needle. The card is amazing -- Lisa is a true artist! She put a picture of the square that she stitched on the front of the card; inside are remanants of what she used to stitch the square along with other stitching related stuff. It's really cool! Thanks so much Lisa!

Hi Everyone!

I found this site thru my friend, Liz S. My name is Suzanne Steffee, and I live in Oakdale CA. I'm 44, and a single working mom of one 10-year old boy. I started doing stamped cross-stitch when I was about 10, and started doing counted cross-stitch when I was in my early 20's. (A long time ago!). I gave up stitch about 8 years ago and recently got back into it. I love it! I also enjoy quilting, scrapbooking, working in garden, reading and camping among other things. I'm looking forward to stitching different designs I might not otherwise stitch for my perspective partners! I have signed up for Round 6 and Earth Day Round.

Round #5: Round #5 shall be completed on Feb. 29 - make sure that you have your squares mailed before or on that date (next Friday). If you are going to be late, then make sure you e-mail your partner and Vonna to let us know what is going on with you.

Earth Day Holiday Round: Sign-ups continue for the Earth Day Holiday Round - I've had some people express that for their Earth Day they would like specific items stitched for them from the list or don't like other items. So what this means is: talk to each other once you get your partner information. The next holiday we will stitch for is The 4th of July (which I understand is an American Holiday, but we have a lot of American stitchers). Sign-ups for the Earth Day Holiday round will close on Feb. 29.

Round #6: Sign-ups continue for Round #6 - sign-ups will close on March 14. Round runs from March 14 - April 25.

Round #7: Sign - ups are presently being taken for Round #7.

Replacement Stitchers: Currently I believe everyone that has not received a square for a previous round has been stitched for and received (or will received shortly). Because of the kindness of others people aren't being left out. If you would like to be put on a list of "Replacement Stitchers" please let me know and I'll add your name to a list in the sidebar. I'll just number it and if someone comes up missing a square and your name is up you'll be the first I ask. If you can't do it, that is perfectly fine, I'll go to the next on my list. Your name will be removed if you accept. And I can put you on again at the bottom later if you wish it. Replacement stitchers will have the same 6 weeks to stitch a replacement set of squares for the person missing theirs.

Alright ladies, everything has been going gangbusters here the past few weeks. Thanks for your continued help, support and attention to detail. We are 108 members strong. Not all of us stitching each round, but still present none-the-less. Thank you!

Here is a photo of Rowyn's squares. I have done a medallion from Paradigm Lost by Long Dog Samplers on 32 count antique white linen using DMC 4240. Wonderful Square Received

I finally got the battery in my camera re-charged so I was able to take a photo of the wonderful square I received from Marie P. I absolutely love it! I received a wonderful package from Stephanie and I have been blown away. The squares are so beautiful and the stitching is amazing. The pattern,taken from 'An Open Heart' by The Drawn Thread, is one I have in my stash and have loved it for sometime. Stephanie stitched it on 32ct Lambswool Linen using Needlepoint Inc. silks. She has really gone overboard with the other gifts - even some chocolate for Valentine's Day.
The Just Nan chart and charm will be fun to stitch and will always remind me of Stephanie and just how generous and kind embroiderers are. Marg F

Earth Day HOLIDAY Round

We didn't have an overwhelming response, but those of you that took the poll (35 people) 92% said that you were interested in holiday rounds. So to kick off our "Holiday Rounds" we're going to stitch for Earth Day! This "holiday" is celebrated this year on April 22, 2008. To join this round send me an e-mail and I'll add you to the list the Round Sign Ups will be taken until Februray 29. Partner names will be sent out on March 1....All squares must be mailed by April 1.

To participate in The Earth Day Holiday Round you must stitch a square under the same Fair and Square Rules as always (size around 50 x 50 stitches, neutral fabric only, linen or evenweave only, 32 ct. only...etc as outlined in the rules portion of this blog.) Each square MUST contain at least one of the following:

• Trees
• Plants
• Flowers
• Vegetables
• Animals
• Birds
• Streams, rivers, lakes, etc.

*Anything that is seen in nature as a Natural Substance or Thing is appropriate for this round. *

Again, e-mail me if you are interested in signing up for this round. Next "holiday" round will be the Fourth of July, I'll start Sign Ups in May.

ROUND 5 maildate fast approaching....

Hello Fair and Square Round #5 Participants!
We've just got 18 days until mailing time. Please remember to get your squares in the mail by Feb. 29, 2008! If you are going to be late, then you have 2 weeks during the clean-up period to get them off....let's make every effort to get them mailed off by mail time!

I've been a bit lack-a-daisial on keeping track of things the past couple of weeks, but I believe I've gotten myself all caught up today. SO, please check the Round #6 list if you want your name on it. And check the Round #5 listings to make sure if you've mailed/received, that your marked as such.

REMEMBER: Sign Ups for Round #6 are underway!!! either post to the board or dash me an e-mail for signing up. If you have friends that want to join in, please let them know our next round is fast approaching!

NOW then, I'm going to set up a poll...I've been tossing the idea around for a bit, and I think it may be something that other's are interested in. I like Holidays...all of them, now I'm MOST familiar with the ones American's celebrate, since I'm American, BUT here's my idea, what about having separate exchanges from the regular rounds that are called "Easter Round" or "St. Patty's Round" or "Sinterklaas Round", etc. Those people interested in exchanging during that round would stitch squares (main square and signature square) just as we do now - under the same rules...to arrive a month prior to the holiday we're having a round for...what do you think? CAST your votes in the poll located in the sidebar - this is limited to MEMBERS ONLY!

Thank You Marie!

Marie was a real sweetie and volunteered to stitch me a square for round four after my partner crapped out on me and didn't reciprocate the exchange. I wasn't expecting Vonna or anyone to replace what I didn't get but I'm real greatful!

Not only did Marie stitch me these beautiful squares but she threw in some lovely extras as well. Thank you Marie for stepping up when someone woudln't follow through.

I received my squares from Michelle in WA this past Friday. Michelle your stitching is beautiful and thank you for the stash you sent along with it. I really like the design you choose - I stitched this one for another exchange and loved the design. Now I have one for my own collection. Can't wait to make something with them - probably a pinkeep or something like that. I'll post pictures once it's completely finished :)

I Received the Most Beautiful Squares Today from Staci K...

I can't tell how excited I was when I opened my package that came in the mail today. Everything about the package was just perfect. The way everything was packaged and what was inside the packaging.

Staci K. really did her homework on these. They are so me! The colors and the designs. Staci stitched different motifs from a few different samplers from Sampler and Antique Needlework. She picked the colors using DMC variations thread. They are just gorgeous! I can't tell you how much I love them! I think I am going to have to make something with them right away!

She also sent me some goodies, of course! Chocolates (who doesn't love that) and fibers, some DMC's and a Caron Wildflowers "Peacock"--how fitting! Thank you so much Staci.

BEAUTIFUL FROM SUE W.

Sue W. sent this a while back. The pictures were taken and somehow my camera was placed in a very special secret hiding place. Much to my delight, today the camera came out of its very special secret hiding place. Now everyone may feast their eyes upon this beautiful work of art.

First a picture before anything was opened. The anticipation was just too much. Wrapped in red and green for Christmas.

Opening the package was so much fun. This picture is of all the wonderful things Sue sent to me....the chocolate is so yummy.

Here is a close up of the stitching. Her stitching is perfect.

I am thanking Sue from the bottom of my heart for all the thought she put into this. Also Thank you for all the wonderful goodies. It is very kind of you.
